After School Programs (TK-6)

What We Do

Welcome to the Claremont Unified School District Child Development After School Program! It is our pleasure and privilege to share in the continuous growth and development of your school age child.

The CUSD After School Programs, better known as BLAST, ASES, and ELOP provide before and/or after school care to children in grades TK – 6th at each of the seven elementary school sites within the district.

The Best Learning After School Time (BLAST) program is a self-supported tuition-based program. Parents pay tuition fees to cover all the costs incurred for this program.  The program provides care on all regular school days from 7:00 a.m. until school begins and again after school until 6:00 p.m.

The After School Education and Safety (ASES) Program is a state-subsidized program that is available only to students attending Vista del Valle Elementary School. Families attending the ASES program at Vista pay a flat monthly family fee. Homeless youth, as defined by the Federal McKinney-Vento Homeless Assistance Act (42.U.S.C. Sec 11434a) a child who is in foster care or children who are eligible for free or reduced-price meals are not charged a fee. ASES is open on all regular school days from the end of school until 6:00 p.m.

The Expanded Learning Opportunities Program (ELOP) is a state-funded program that provides afterschool and summer programs for foster youth, McKinney-Vento students, free or reduced-priced eligible students, and English language learners at no cost.  The ELOP program is open on all regular school days from the end of school until 6:00 p.m.

Children can choose from a wide variety of developmentally appropriate enrichment activities which include recreation and games, arts, crafts, and more.  The program also offers homework time and free time for children to pursue their own interests in a safe and positive environment. A nutritional snack is provided daily by Nutrition Services.
