Principal's Weekend Update 10/8/2021
Posted 10/8/21

Hello, Panthers!

I hope everyone had a great week!  It has been a good week at El Roble, and I think people are thankful to see the seasons change.  Please take a moment to read the following announcements for El Roble.

  • School Site Council:  Once again, it is time to put together our annual school site council for the 2021-2022 school year.  The School Site Council (SSC) does two very important functions:
    • Annually review the Single Plan for Student Achievement (SPSA) and the School Safety Plan, and
    • Serve as an advisory for important school wide decisions.

People live busy lives, so the commitment would be probably 2-4 meetings during the year, after school, and on Zoom.  We need 3 parents to sign-up (one must also be on our English Language Advisory Committee—ELAC).  If we have more than 3 interested parents, we will have an election to determine those parents.  The top 3 vote receivers will be invited to participate in the School Site Council.  If you are interested, please let us know by completing this form: .  Please complete this form by Wednesday, October 13, 2021

  • Cheer Tryouts:  Due to an increase in interest for Cheer, we have reinitiated cheer tryouts.  SAVE THE DATE - Saturday, October 16th at El Roble!  Please sign up using this link so that we have an idea of how many to expect . Early next week, you will receive a video link to the cheer and dance so that you may practice before the clinic on Saturday.  Saturday morning, you will arrive at school for a morning clinic to practice the tryout routines and tryouts will begin at 11:00.  More information will be coming with additional details. Please note that this year will be limited in games and events due to program restrictions, we will do our best to provide students with a great experience that will set the stage for future opportunities.  Please be sure to have your athletic clearance completed before tryouts - Physicals are effective for one calendar year.  If you have any questions, please email Mrs. Welch at
  • Sports Update:  It was a great week for El Roble Sports!  Cross Country squared off against Royal Oak and Ramon, and Boys placed 1st and Girls placed 2nd!  Playing against Royal Oak, 8th Grade Football won 16-6 and 7th Grade Football won 6-2!  Finally, 8th Grade Volleyball won 3-1, while 7th Grade Volleyball won (via forfeit).  Good job, Panthers!
  • Cell Phone Use:  I would like to remind our families that students are not allowed to place or receive phone calls during class time.  If a family needs to contact a student, please call our office instead.  We have had a few students and their parents attempt to connect via cell phone during class, and we want to keep classroom learning as distraction free as possible.

Have a great weekend, Panthers!
